As I awakened gently from my night's sleep, I listened to the howling wind. I imagined a storm of swirling snow outside. But when I looked out the window, all was sunny and dry...and just plain windy without snow.
Personally, I find such a moment very disappointing! I always love waking up to a rainy day--the way you can hear that it's rainy from things like the way cars sound swishing by on the street. It just sounds *wet* out--it's mostly not even the sound of the rain falling.
Yes, it can be disappointing to find, alas: no snow. Especially if you want (or need) a day off! On rainy mornings, especially when it's raining so hard you can hear it, I tend to sleep longer than I should. The sound of the rain hitting the roof and everywhere keeps me in my slumber...longer!
Hi Teri ~ Thanks for your comment! I've made a habit of not following weather reports, and now prefer to (even if I am disappointed at times) just look/step outside. Keeps things a little more interesting! :)

ReplyDeleteI had this very thing happen last week! It is quite disconcerting.
